Restoring inner safety through awareness, embodiment, and a new relationship with the living world.
Cordula Frei has been working with Voice Dialogue and the Psychology of Selves since the early 1990s and is among the longest-practicing Voice Dialogue trainers in Germany. Over more than thirty years, she has accompanied individuals and trained professionals across medical, psychological, and therapeutic fields, including trainings for physicians, psychologists, psychiatrists, and naturopaths and bodyworkers. She has organized and held the yearly annual Summeracademies for Voice Dialogue Community in mid Europe for over 20 years.Her primary focus lies in working with stages of crises and renewal, for anyone who experience states of exhaustion, inner fragmentation, anxiety, physical symptoms, menopausal challenges, or relational crises. These experiences are approached not as isolated pathologies, but as meaningful threshold states that often arise when long-standing patterns of adaptation and functioning reach their limits.
Embodying Deep Ecology and Regenerative Consciousness through Voice Dialogue
Cordula’s work bridges modern neuroscience with ecopsychology and embodied awareness. A central aspect of her approach is neuroregulation: supporting the nervous system in moving out of chronic states of fight, flight, or freeze and returning to a felt sense of safety and inner coherence. Limbic and somatic processes play a key role here, as do simple, rhythmical practices rooted in ritual, sensory awareness, and relationship with the natural world. Her horses can play, if wished so, a important role in assisting these processes.
A distinctive dimension of Cordula Frei’s work is the integration of nature-based and ecopsychological perspectives. She understands the psyche as embedded within living systems rather than separate from them. Working with natural rhythms, elemental experiences, and ritualized forms of attention supports embodiment, regulation, and a deeper remembering of belonging.
Cordula lives and works near Basel, in the tri-border region of Germany, France, and Switzerland, where the Rhine connects landscapes, cultures, and languages. She offers individual sessions in Steinen-Hägelberg 14 km from Basel, as well as retreat-based work in Alsace-France, often in natural settings and, when appropriate, in the presence of horses. These settings allow for deeper processes of embodiment, regulation, and integration beyond everyday contexts. Accommodation can be booked on both places.
In addition to in-person work, Cordula offers online sessions via Zoom and is available worldwide as a senior trainer and teacher of Voice Dialogue. Her teaching style is known for its clarity, depth, and respect for individual inner timing. Rather than applying techniques, she creates spaces in which awareness can unfold organically and sustainably.
